She received Queen’s honours OBE (1989), CBE (2007) and DBE (2014). She recived BAFTA awards for Best Actress (1978) and Best Light Entertainment Performance (1977).

From there she spent 5 months with Chesterfield Repertory followed by 7 months at Lincoln Repertory before embarking on a long stage and television career.
